Meet Steven
Steve joined Cabot Risk Strategies in January, 2024, as Vice President, after having owned his own Employee Benefits agency, The Magellan Agency, which his dad, Richard, started in 1986.
Steven provides personalized and comprehensive employee benefit counsel that is tailored to each client’s objectives. He believes the most effective way for clients to reduce financial stress is to have a plan that addresses: plan costs, maximize savings, quality A+ carrier network, efficient plan design, contribution strategy, claim review and employee education.
An insurance broker for 20 years, Steven attained his advanced designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) in 2006 from the American College. Completing three years of advanced industry coursework, this knowledge attained has many benefits but most importantly helps Steven better understand rate making from an underwriter’s perspective. Clients never get tired of this competitive advantage that helps them secure the best rates in the market from year to year.
Several years ago RAM, the largest business association in the state, named Steven as a lead broker for their membership. RAM vets the brokers they hand select and we work to deliver great results and return their confidence one satisfied client at a time.
Steven has held a seat on the legislative board with the Mass Assoc. of Health Underwriters for over 10 years. This commitment to fast changing, complex legislative issues helps him stay ahead of important regulations that affect our clients. In this role Steven has testified at the state house and participates in many letter writing campaigns as a strong advocate for hard working business owners.
Steven is a certified Broker of the MA Health Connector, the state’s Health Insurance Exchange.
Steven has been awarded many certifications in alternative funding benefit models in order to introduce advanced plan design solutions that help lower costs for our clients.
